The Fergusson typescript (for which see under O1n2 ) has: "and his frightful work, in the writer of Partrick from Eirland." In the MS, the second word seems to be "wore"; the fifth is definitely "mask" instead of "work." The sixth word is "in," which appears to be a slip for "and." But the next two words--corresponding to "the" and "writer" in the typescript--have been torn away, evidently, since the Fergusson typescript was made. Since "writer" makes no sense in this context, it seems appropriate to suppose that it is a misreading for "miter."
