The larger of the two wharves at the center of the picture would later be Frederick's Wharf (after Frederick Ott), and later still, Beamish's Wharf. The smaller wharf to the right of it is the Ferry Slip. The small boat with two lugsails, in the middleground, is the type that was used by the Dartmouth ferries till they started to be challenged in 1816. Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
