[Saturday] August the 26 [1815]
I have been carding and spinning
this morning, and in the afternoon I went with the
girls and picked some bayberries
.
-- Papa has been to town today but has brought no news. -- I stopped at
my
little bower this afternoon, but it looked so dull I could not stay
long--and the weather, being very dull, hurried me from the spot where
I have spent many happy moments. -- I have not seen anyone since I came
home, and time passes heavily on. -- Night
has thrown on her sable mantle, and I now prepare for bed. |
